Project Background
The Tung Chung Line Extension (TUE) is mainly composed of:
- Tung Chung East Section: Constructing an approximately 1.2km new railway section and diverting the tracks between Sunny Bay and Tung Chung stations, with the new Tung Chung East Station# to be built at the Tung Chung East reclamation area
- Tung Chung West Section: Constructing an approximately 1.3km westward extension from the existing railway tunnel of Tung Chung Station and building the new Tung Chung West Station# near Yat Tung Estate
The construction of the TUE commenced in May 2023, the first among the MTR Corporation's multiple new railway projects. The project is targeted to be completed in 2029, further enhancing the railway and public transportation network in North Lantau, strengthening the connectivity within and outside the district, and supporting the sustainable growth of the residential and working population of Tung Chung in the long-term.
This dedicated website is prepared in accordance with the requirements in the Environmental Permit (EP)(EP No. EP-614/2022) and is intended to enable public access to the project information including environmental monitoring data and submissions of TUE.
